On Friday 20 June, the Camberwell Pompey Elliott RSL came alive with purpose, pride and powerful storytelling. In partnership with professional TV presenter and director Lara Shannon, and cameraman Alex (Al), we hosted a special filming day and members’ event to honour the voices of our community.
Over the course of the day, veterans, family members, volunteers and general members generously shared their stories on camera — with honesty, humour, and heart. Their reflections will form the foundation of a powerful docu-series and content campaign that captures the spirit of our RSL for generations to come.
The evening flowed into a relaxed and vibrant members’ event with a BBQ, bar service, live music by The Tramways Band, and plenty of familiar faces catching up and connecting. It was a celebration of service, mateship and community in every sense with a special and moving presentation to Paul McCrohan OAM, receiving an RSL life membership!
We’d like to acknowledge that producing high-quality video content takes time — with many hours of reviewing, editing and refining footage ahead. We can’t thank Lara and Al enough for their time, energy and generosity in helping us bring this project to life. Their professionalism and care in capturing these moments have been invaluable.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part — whether in front of the camera, behind the scenes, or simply showing up to support. The trust and openness shared on the day will shape something truly special.
