What is the Camberwell Pompey Elliott RSL?
We are an RSL Sub-Branch in Camberwell, Victoria, formed from the amalgamation of the Tramways East Melbourne and Camberwell City RSL Sub-Branches. Our motto is No one left behind — we provide community, respite and welfare support to veterans, first responders and their families.
Where is the Camberwell Pompey Elliott RSL located?
Our clubhouse is at 403 Camberwell Road, Camberwell VIC 3124. You can contact us at info@camberwellrsl.com.au or on 0401 180 430.
Who is "Pompey Elliott"?
Harold ‘Pompey’ Elliott was a Boer War and WWI veteran, an inspiring military leader, and a local Camberwell resident. Our Sub-Branch is named in his honour. Learn more about Pompey Elliott
Does the Camberwell Pompey Elliott RSL have a bistro or dining facilities?
We don’t operate a bistro. However, we host a regular calendar of member events that include food and beverages. View our upcoming events.
Does the club have pokies or gaming facilities?
No. We have no pokies or gaming facilities. Our focus is on providing a safe, welcoming space and support services for our members and community.
Membership
Do I need to have served in the military to join?
No. While our charter is centred on supporting serving and ex-service ADF members and their families, community members are also welcome to join as Social Members.
How do I apply for membership?
Applications are submitted online via our membership form. After submission, our membership officer will guide you through the approval process, which may involve additional documentation depending on your membership type. Once approved, you’ll receive direct debit details for payment. Join Today!
How much does membership cost?
All membership types — Service, Affiliate, Associate and Social — are $40 per year.
Do I get RSL Rewards with my membership?
Yes. All financial RSL members in Victoria are automatically enrolled in RSL Rewards. Your membership number (found on your RSL card) is your RSL Rewards number. For more information, visit rslrewards.com.au.
Can I be a member of Camberwell RSL while belonging to another Sub-Branch?
Yes — this is called an Associate Membership. You’ll need to nominate which Sub-Branch you hold voting rights at. Your original Service or Affiliate membership must remain financial for your Associate membership to stay active.
Respite Accomodation
Who can use the respite accommodation?
The Portarlington unit is available exclusively to current financial members and their families. View the respite accommodation
Do I need to be a member to book the respite unit?
Yes. Membership is required. If you’re not yet a member, join here and then get in touch to make a booking.
How do I book the respite unit?
You can book by emailing rchristie62@bigpond.com or calling Daryl Christie on 0417 753 169 with your preferred dates.
Service & Support
What welfare support does the club provide?
We can assist eligible members with wellbeing costs (medical, therapy, mobility), household expenses (rent arrears, utilities), and other living costs (school fees, vehicle repairs). Funding comes from our Remembrance Day and ANZAC Day services.
Can the RSL help me with a DVA claim?
Yes. We provide advocacy assistance for Department of Veterans’ Affairs claims, service pension applications, DVA appeals, and applying for Veterans Cards (Gold, White or Orange).
Are your commemorative services open to the public?
Yes. Our ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day services are free to attend and open to anyone who wishes to pay their respects.

Are monthly meetings open to all members?
Yes. Our regular monthly meetings are open to all financial members and provide a safe, inclusive space for social connection.
